like everyone is mad because they ruined steve and bucky’s friendship which is valid, but in terms of actual relationship, bucky has been running away from steve since 2014. hes been narratively distanced from him in every movie since catws, which SUCKS but like it’s not NEWS… bucky changed, he still loves steve but bucky started a new life in wakanda away from steve. endgame steve’s still an Absolute CLOWN for going back in time and doing nothing to help him but at least in the future? we Know bucky has moved on and Healed. and he removed himself from steve’s life a while ago. they arent codependent anymore like they were as kids.
but you know who didnt remove himself? SAM. they were Still INSEPARABLE. he was his biggest supporter THIS century, he left HIS life that he worked SO hard to make normal after Riley to help steve when the bucky bs happened in dc. he was There to chase bucky for TWO (2) years of his life PRE-civil war (even when he didnt yet LIKE bucky) because it was Important to Steve!! He became a fugitive and went On the Run with steve, he left his whole life behind. There was NO steve without sam in any movie since CATWS.
